Bill is a Partner in one of Hicksons Insurance practice groups. His focus is on managing insurance in the workplace. Bill has extensive experience and provides advice to scheme agents, specialised insurers and TMF claims managers in the various industries that include manufacturing, health, emergency services, construction and education.

His practice in workers compensation and work injury damages claims spans the areas of general insurance litigation, public liability, industrial relations, occupational health and safety, employment matters and CTP claims. Bill has a special interest in psychological injury claims. He has advised on claims involving: motor accidents; manual handling; chemical and dust exposure; workplace trauma; bullying and harassment; and use and misuse of industrial equipment.

Bill takes a practical approach to workers compensation matters, always trying to identify a speedy, equitable and legally appropriate outcome at an early stage.  He regularly appears as an advocate in the Workers Compensation Commission in matters which proceed to the conciliation/arbitration stage.

Bill has extensive experience in training new solicitors and has been involved with the establishment of risk management guidelines for community and sporting groups.

The interest in training and development has led Bill to work closely with insurer clients to devise comprehensive training modules for junior claims staff.  He has delivered small group classes, seminars and papers to employers and insurers on developments in the workers compensation jurisdiction on topics including: threshold liability issues; strategies for managing work injury damages claims; costs issues in the Workers Compensation Commission; lump sum compensation for primary psychological injury; and managing industrial and employment issues when a claim has been declined.

Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales and he commenced with Hicksons in July 2006. Bill is admitted to practice in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.
