Cameron leads Hicksons’ Insurance team and Public Sector Risks practice.

For almost 30 years, Cameron has acted for the insurance industry and government in an extensive range of matters. His experience spans all areas of insurance law, but particularly professional indemnity, property liability, construction all risks and industrial claims. In the area of professional indemnity his primary experience has been in medical, engineering and construction claims. In the past, he has advised on motor property, CTP and workers compensation claims.
Most of his cases resolve through alternative dispute resolution methods, which suits the complex and difficult cases in which he is retained. Cameron’s successful outcomes, particularly in mediation, derive from careful identification of when resolution is best likely to be achieved during the dispute process.

Cameron’s experience in complex litigation has included significant cases that ran to the High Court of Australia. He has also represented clients in courts in every state and territory in Australia, at the federal level and in international jurisdictions. He acts for insurers and government entities in particularly complex, difficult matters. These have included defending engineers, architects, accountants, construction companies, project managers and financial advisors. His work requires advice on indemnity issues and a careful balance of the insurer’s and insured’s interests. He has significant public sector experience, having advised New South Wales government departments and agencies on a range of insurance claims, contractual disputes, recoveries and trade practices actions. His dispute resolution approach in this sector involves considering legal issues within the broader context of public interest, media sensitivity and probity.

Cameron holds a Bachelor of Laws. He is admitted to practice in New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and the High Court of Australia.
