Alan has practised for more than 40 years. He has extensive experience in representing and advising employers, insurers, property owners and occupiers in insurance litigation and commercial disputes. He is acknowledged as one of New South Wales' leading litigators.

Alan has significant experience in advising on statutory interpretation, contracts and insurance policies. His insurance and re-insurance experience includes mortgage lenders insurance,  professional indemnity, and re-insurance of statutory liability and other risks. He has advised clients on a wide range of contractual disputes including mortgage leading disputes, partnership disputes and consumer disputes. 

He has extensive experience acting in special inquiries. He has advised clients called before the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and before Special Commissions of Inquiry and the Australian Crime Commission. These include the Jackson Inquiry (MRCF), representing three Police Officers in the inquiry into the disappearance of anti-drugs campaigner Donald Mackay, and representing a council employee in the ICAC inquiry into Wollongong City Council’s property developments.

A significant part of Alan’s practice is his work for the NSW Bar Association. He is instructed by the Bar Association in disciplinary matters conducted in the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and Administrative Decisions Tribunal.

Alan, who holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws, commenced with the firm in December 1967. He is admitted to practice in New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and the High Court of Australia.
