David leads Hicksons corporate and commercial practice group with a key practice focus to advise on complex technology transactions. David also leads Hicksons digital transformation practice. David’s team implements intelligent digital assistants that transform large organisation’s delivery of legal and policy guidance to their personnel.

With more than 23 years’ experience, David develops, negotiates and successfully implements large, complex contracts, particularly for complicated enterprise projects.

David advises on and drafts a range of commercial agreements and is recognised for his skills in drafting plain English documents that are concise, easy to use and support smooth transactions.

David advises on managing cyber risks in supply chains including incorporating cyber security requirements into procurement process.

He also advises on information technology transactions, including drafting service-related software license and development, outsourcing, maintenance and support and facilities management agreements and professional services contracts. David designs procurement strategies for technology procurements to ensure outstanding value for money outcomes. David provides legal insight and regulatory advice on the Corporations Act including advising on issues such as directors’ duties and corporate governance.

David holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees and a graduate diploma of applied corporate governance through Chartered Secretaries Australia and is a qualified corporate governance professional and Harvard-trained negotiator.

He joined Hicksons in September 1999 and is admitted to practice in NSW.
