Visitor Visas
A Visitor Visa allows you to visit Australia for a limited amount of time from a holiday or business related activities.
There are 6 types of Visitor Visas:
- Electronic Travel Authority (Subclass 601).
- eVisitor (Subclass 651).
- Transit Visa (Subclass 771).
- Visitor (Subclass 600).
- Work & Holiday Visa (Subclass 462).
- Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417).
The subclass 601 and 651 visas allow you to travel to Australia to have a holiday, visit friends or family, or undertake business activity. This visa also allows you to train or study for up to 3 months however, if you are looking to train in a childcare centre or study to be a paramedic, doctor, nurse or dentist then you will need to apply for a subclass 600 visa.
You are not able to work under this visa. You must have a valid passport from a list of eligible countries to be able to apply for this visa. The applicant must also prove that they are a genuine visitor and that they have enough money to support themselves while in Australia.
The subclass 600 visa allows you to apply for a visitors visa if you do not have a valid passport from an eligible country. There are 4 streams of the subclass visa and you must apply for the correct stream for the activities you plan to undertake while in Australia.
The working holiday visa is available to people aged 18-30 years old. You can apply for this visa up to three times and each visa lasts for up to 12 months. You must have an eligible passport to apply for this visa and can apply for any type of work while in Australia.

What business activities can you do?
As a business visitor, you can:
- make general business or employment enquiries.
- investigate, negotiate, enter into or review a business contract.
- conduct activities as part of an official government visit.
- take part in a conference, trade fair or seminar. The organisers can't pay you to take part.
You can't:
- work for or provide services to a business or organisation based in Australia.
- sell goods or services directly to the public.
What is a genuine visitor?
A Visitors Visa is a temporary visa, meaning that you will need to leave Australia at the expiry of the visa. You will need to provide evidence to show that you will leave Australia and will not stay in Australia past the expiry of your visa.
How much does a visitor visa cost?
A Visitors Visa can cost $20 to $635. The subclass 651 visa is free to apply for.
